Travel Assistance Plans
A number of years ago we joined the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA)primarily because of its included benefit of a travel assistance plan. FMCA has now scrapped that plan and now offers a similar plan for a fee of $105 for family coverage. FMCA membership is $40/year and I'm paid to 9/2016.
I've also been a Good Same member for many years. Good Sam now offers a travel assistance plan for $120 a year for the family. I have a lifetime Good Sam membership.
I'm trying to decided which of the two plans I might sign up for.
Long-term-wise, the cheaper approach is to go with the FMCA plan until 2016 and then switch to Good Sam.
I have two questions for the group:
1. Do any of you have any experience with either of these travel assistance plans?
2. Do any of you even feel a plan like this is worthwhile?
I generally do not buy extra warranty insurance and stuff like that, But I'm thinking one of these plans might give DW a little peace of mind knowing she could get some help with things should something happen to me when we're thousands of miles from home.
I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks.
