My husband and I are in our late 60's and have recently developed a couple of health issues which impact on our travel to the US. Our Blue Cross medical travel insurance plans have a 90 day pre-existing condition clause--any medical procedure, tests, diagnosis, treatment, hospital visit, etc. preclude health coverage for that particular health issue while in the USA. So our winter Rv travel plans are shattered. We can't be the only snowbird seniors with minor or major health concerns. I've read many horror stories about Canadians returning with huge medical bills not covered by their health insurance plans.Canadians-- what do you do about health insurance coverage? Are we doomed to suffer through our Canadian winters forever?

ipeltier..I am thinking that there is no way around this for 'normal' people. If you have scads of of money, yes, I am sure you could buy some coverage with no "per-existing" wording, but in the real world? I doan tink so, Lucy. And I will caution you...insurance companies will use any reason/excuse to get out of a pay-out, so, when people 'forget' to mention that health issue? The company will use that to avoid ANY coverage pay-out even tho the claim might have absolutely 100% nothing to do with the per-existing health issue.I think you are doomed to enjoy your Albertan winter. Although....you could wander over to the Okanagan Valley and hang out. But even then, you need to be sure your Alberta coverage extends to other parts of Canada.Gary Haupt

Why not take three months and go to the south coast of Spain. Their procedural and hospitalization price schedules are roughly the same as Canada's. As a result there is no need for insurance. Have enough cash or a high enough visa limit to just pay the bill should something happen. You will need a detailed procedural list of what was performed etc. when you get home to submit it to your provincial health care people. Remember, canada health covers you anywhere in the world...but only up to what the same procedure and hospitalization would cost in Canada. The south coast of Spain is awesome. La costa del sol is where most snowbirds go but myself we would and will probably spend three months in Sevilla. Great city.Oh, and the other three months (you can only spend three months in Europe) I would take the RV to Victoria. Another nice city.
