I just looked at all those pictures and am horrified at the destruction and loss of life. So tragic. Am interested in the truck driver's take on it. He is shown in one picture and doesn't appear to be incapacitated at all.
When we were broken down in our Phaeton on I-12 north of NOLA (serpentine belt broke), trucks and cars flew by us at full speed, not 18 inches from us. We pulled over as far as we could, but there was little shoulder coming up to a bridge and there had been floods which made the shoulder soft. Thank goodness a trooper arrived and put out some cones and parked his cruiser with lights flashing behind us. It helped.
