Well, here's what I consider a "truck":
1) The World's Record altitude holder truck parked at over twenty-one thousand feet -
2) My Z71 driving up out of a riverbed in the middle of nowhere going to a remote lake on a special permit in a no-vehicles outback State Park in California -
I would think that little Suzuki 4 x4 is a mini SUV, not a Truck - free_radicalExplorer

Why does Honda even attempt to push this vehicle in the USA? Sales figures are so miserable that it can't be profitable.
They haven't the good sense to walk away from the table and only they seem to know why. Like I said if anyone else made this and had sales figures like this those responsible would have been fired and the line cancelled.
Do you suppose that Honda is profitable? Is there any chance that the Ridgeline is going to run them out of business? They could probably give Ridgelines away and still be profitable.
If I was a Honda shareholder.....I would be insisting they drop it. Hasn't been a money maker for years.
If Ford was selling the World Ranger in North America RL sales would be lucky to be half or more than likely less than that of what they are now. Fortunately for Honda Ford is not particularly interested in yet bringing it to our shores but if they do......it won't fare well for the 2016 RL.
Do you work for Honda?
So how could you possibly know it's not profitable?
:h - AllworthExplorer IIIf I can consistently get 13/21 in a 2004 Chevy 3500 crew-cab long-bed (D/A), what are they selling??

I never heard anything about the Japanese government or anyone else bailing Honda out. If you want to talk about profits start a thread about GM. You're right, GM would have dumped the Ridgeline like they did the Pontiac and Saturn, but sometimes there is more to a business plan than instant $$$$ gratification.
EDIT. It took GM over75 years to determine that Pontiac couldn't be a money maker. Go figure!!!!
There was a time when Pontiac was a money maker. GM just ran it into the ground like they did the rest of the company. - shum02Explorer

I posted earlier I have the 4X4 6 cyl Frontier which uses at least as much fuel as my friend's full size Chevy truck. The truck is great to drive, I highly recommend them if you need a smaller pickup and fuel consumption isn't a concern.
This article may point out the weakness of the smaller pickups. People would be more likely to buy them if they burned significantly less fuel than full sized trucks. My neighbor has Ridgeline, loves it, very reliable and he says fun to drive. But he's averaging about 14 MPG in mostly urban driving. He's eeked out 20-21 on long open road trip.
My 8000 F350 pulls off the same numbers. Combined city/highway of 14-16mpg and 20-22mpg highway(doing 60mph/100kph)
A long time back I had a '94 Ranger 2wd 4.0L V6 5sp SC with 3:08's that would easily pull 30mpg and take a 5.0L Mustang of the same vintage through 1st and 2nd gear. A great little truck.....What happened? - tpiExplorerhttp://truckyeah.jalopnik.com/2014-nissan-frontier-sales-spike-driven-by-4-cylinder-e-1535226272

EDIT. Combined Colorado/Canyon. 11, 073
Ridgeline. 13, 389 - shum02Explorer

The humor escapes me. Ridgeline is niche product. The ones I'm familiar with give good reliable service. I have a Nissan Frontier 4X4 similar in size, but typical truck frame. I find it very likeable to drive. For several reasons I didn't want full size pickup anymore. One valid criticism of these small trucks including Ridgeline is fuel consumption. My Frontier seems to come out on the losing end to a new Silverado 5.3 on every trip.
Honda does not sell the Ridgeline outside,NA, with the exception of Venezuela
