- rockhillmanorExplorer III finally went to using consignment and never looked back.
THE best thing I have done when selling my RV's!
I tell them what I want for the RV and they can sell it for whatever they want and/or the market will bear.
The best part is THEY take care of all the paperwork, title, financing. When we sell our RV's by our self we can't offer financing! So it opens up a broader buyer base. Buyer sees it on the lot, wants it, they get them financed!!
They called me when it was sold and had a check waiting for the amount I asked for it. Why should I care what profit they made on it? It got SOLD!
I would suggest to put your RV on consignment at your local in town RV dealer that you most likely have been frequenting and using for years for maint, repair, sales, supplies, equipment etc. They know you and you know them to be reputable from giving them your business.
I will never sell another on of my RV's on line, or by myself ever again! IMHO consignment is the only way to go! :B - dons2346ExplorerIf you put it on a consignment lot, better check with your insurance company to make sure it is still insured. Some companies will not insure a rig if it is on a consignment lot.
- ScottGNomadTHey have all sorts of tricks to get more money out of the seller. One told me they had to have some fabric repairs done to our popup and it was $150. They flew off the handle when I asked to see a receipt. That's when I realized they were full of it.
- BB_TXNomadHere is a consignment agreement from Motorhome Specialist showing their terms, conditions, and rates. PPL Motorhomes charges 10% of sale price, but lower minimum than above, and no fee if it doesn’t sell.

You would think it illegal, but they signed the document that gave them permission to do it.Read the fine print.
Ouch.. :S - LwiddisExplorer II“Read the fine print.” Then read it again. Call your insurance agent too.
- T18skyguyExplorerWhen you consign a rig, you are actually transfering ownership to them. Keeping the title doesn't matter. Rigs on consignment are considered assets of the business. Most of the time it doesn't matter, and it all works as it should, but if they go out of business abruptly, or declare bankruptcy, all vehicles become property of the creditors. I witnessed this once in Wisconsin. There we're 40 rigs on the property, they declared bankruptcy and locked the gates and they all lost their rigs. After the creditors were paid, there was nothing left to give back to the owners. You would think it illegal, but they signed the document that gave them permission to do it.Read the fine print.
- SlownsyExplorerMake sure you read the hole contract before signing anything, ther are good dealerships and not so good ones. We had a wery bad experience that took a long time and some money to sort out.
Frank - bobsallyhExplorer IIDon't know the answer to your question but make sure you HOLD the title to the RV, not the consignment lot.
