You must have never read statutes. You're talking commercial vehicles. A completely different statute covers commercial vehicle combinations. What I provided was the IL statute which covers RVs. 60 ft is the max length for a RV, the first towed vehicle has to be a 5th wheel, and the 2nd towed vehicle can only be ATV, boat, PWC, or motorcycle. What the OP described does not meet IL law.
And yeah I have been on I-80. I was one of the first motor carrier certified Troopers in the state. Worked a bit on I-80 and also taught traffic and vehicle law.
Don't mix commercial vehicle statutes with statutes specifically directed towards RVs.
That kind of sucks the a 40+' Class A pulling a full size truck as a toad has to go around your wonderful State. Kind of silly IMO. My boat tracks perfect behind my 5'er.
