Upcoming season!

Just got the call from my favorite campground that our application for seasonal camping was drawn (It's a lottery due to popularity).

I was a little dismayed this year that the rates were increasing from $1500 to $1900 for the season, but my desire to be using the trailer I'm paying for far outweighs paying for it and leaving it in storage.

I'm getting really excited as a few very good friends were also drawn this year, and the kids are getting to the age where they can have some freedom around the park. Well, the two older ones can (8 and 5), the baby (just over 1 right now) will have to hang out with us.

This will be our second year in the Zinger ZT33BH, and I am really hoping we don't have near the trouble this year that we had last. It's been with our dealer since last fall so they could figure out all the issues and get us back up and running with everything like it should be this year. I knew there'd be issues, as all new trailers have a bit of a personality to contend with, but this thing was off the charts. Luckily we have an absolutely fantastic dealer that's been taking very good care of us.

I'm also looking forward to taking my Heli-Max 1Si quad copter out and getting some aerial photos of the camp site and trailer. I'll be sure to post them once I've done so.

I am very lucky to get my seasonal site as well, there is a list of people waiting for one. As for having to stay in one spot I have another TT that I can use for trips. There is no rule I have to only go to my seasonal site.

My main problem is I don't have a reliable enough TV to go any further than the 20km to this CG. For us right now, staying put is perfect. Maybe when I'm not tied to a full time job we'll wander a little more.
  • We have a 37' 5th wheel and don't even own a truck. The camping spirit runs through the family, and there are plenty of trucks available to haul us the 1/2 hour trip twice a year. Now we're in the market for a tiny camper for when the travel mood hits. Best of both worlds.

I have a few friends that would do the same for us, or I know of a towing company that will haul it for a couple hundred bucks to anywhere close by. Longer trips we're out of luck though, would have to rent a truck or something.

We're not really "on a whim" type people, so this seasonal site at one place thing works well for us right now. The best (and worse) part is there are nightly rental sites around us, so we always meet new people. Sometimes it is a hit and we have a really good time, sometimes we get told that "another party until 2am will not be tolerated". In that instance it was a friend and I who sat up by the fire having a few drinks and talking, nothing more. No music, no loud laughter, just idle chat.

I guess their definition of party differs from my own.
  • At the seasonal site I've made some good friends. I look forward to seeing them each summer. A lot of times will get together and talk until 2am . I don't have any close neighbors so no problems. Love looking at the stars with the Loons in the distance in a comfy chair with a small campfire and a adult beverage.

Stop it! It's still months away!!!
  • We did a bunch of travelling when our boys were younger but have been seasonals for 10 years now. We have a great spot in a small campgrd. We do a bit of tenting for a change of scenery.I don't have a decent tow vehicle either and with the price of gas around here........
We also got an new unit last summer. Unfortunately we have a terrible dealer and things are still not fixed.
Will be great to get a smoky camp fire going again tho.
