- DatacomGuyExplorerNot a bad idea either.. but takes up room. Still, for the money, not a bad idea.
- BuckBarkerExplorerI would add a stand alone, vent hose out the window AC unit to what you already have. The heavy extension cord can also run out the window to the pedestal. I just bought a like new unit on Craigslist for $75,
- johnrbdExplorerWe bit the bullet when I retired. After trial run to Yuma, when we returned home we had local dealer replace the 13.5 with the 15K. We had a wiring/remote issues that needed fixing anyway.
We then left on 3-mo trip of the US - hitting 116 temps on 3 occasions. Even tho the repair/replacement cost $1000, it was the best investment we have EVER made.
Another option you have,is to add a 2nd, small unit - giving you choice of running one or the other, unless you have 50-amp service that will run both units at the same time. - ScottGNomadMy trailer is only 25' long but if I was going to replace the AC anyway, I would not hesitate to go to a 15K. When it's 100+ degree's, our present 13.5K really struggles and it runs pretty much continuously on high speed. The bigger unit would not only do a good job, it would be able to run on the more quiet low speed.
For our usage I would not replace a working 13.5K though - just not worth it for how much we use it.
