13.5 AC Unit

Last week I installed an additional 13.5 in the bedroom of my 2016 Concord..not too difficult..Just has to be plugged in separately from the main 30 amp.

Our first MH was a 30 amp gasser. I don't know the size of the AC but it was not big enough to cool the rig. We added a second AC and had it wired where we could plug it into the pedestal separately. It also could be plugged into the regular onboard circuit. That way we could run either the front or rear AC via a selector switch. If you can afford to add the second unit you won't have to resort to a long list of things to do and still not be comfortable. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Putting in a bigger or second A/C is kind of a big undertaking but might be the only good solution for some folks.

The single factory ducted unit, 13.5 I assume, will just barely keep up at 3 PM. In the mornings and evenings, it's just fine.

OH, I also have a small fan that I put outside under the floor to blow the "cooling" air from the generator actually out away from the RV. Without that, it just accumulates up under the floor.

Ok, here is what we had to do. We live in South Texas where it is really really hot. We have a 2011 Coachmen Concord. It came with a 13,500 BTU unit (ducted). It wouldn't cool it, so I had it swapped out at my expense with a 15,000 BTU unit (ducted). With a 100 degree day with no shade, it would still get to 88 degrees or higher in our coach. And yes, we had the AC unit checked out. So, I gave up and had a separate non-ducted unit installed on a 20 amp circuit that plugs into the coach and post at the RV park separately from the 30 amp plug for the coach. Now, we have NO trouble cooling our Class C at all. I highly recommend this!

There is little advantage to having two A/C units if you can NOT run them at the same time. Most people, I think, would agree that it is not worth the additional expense.

So without including the proper qualification, just saying that you can run two on 30 amp service is incomplete and misleading......to the point of being incorrect.

Pointing that out is necessary. The original incomplete suggestion is not helpful.

To the OP,
If you're talking about new rigs and have the option to order it with a 50 Amp option, I'd recommend doing so. You won't be sorry. Then, most likely, a second AC will also be an option for you too.

If you're looking at used units, then as others have said, you can install a rear AC with it's own 20 A cord. Note that this is NOT the same as 50A service. True 50A service will have two 50A hot lines (100 amps total...sort of) available.

Read it again Sam. My statement is correct. As your statement is also correct. You seem to indicate something is incorrect. Your post adds nothing to the topic. By the way one can run two units on 30 amp just not at the same time. Load management.

Use window awnings, reflective low e film on windows, windshield cover, vent pillows, close the curtains to the over cab bed, change a/c to 15k, cook outside.

If it is hot enough that I need the AC and there is low voltage I will run the generator and then go tell the office or host why I am running the generator and that as soon as the voltage is back up I will turn off the generator and go back to shore power. I have yet been told no. I have even seen a sign posting that there was low voltage and generator rules have been lifted.
