Upgrading from Primus to P3
Does the primus IQ brake controller use the same wiring and mounts as a P3. Can I just unplug the primus and plug in the p3 and place it in the mount.

Yes. When I bought my Primus the sales guy said if I didn't like it to just bring the controller only (plus box) back and get the P2-3 and swap. He said they all use the same connectors.
