Please excuse my ignorance here... I am unable to find ethanol free gas within an hour of where I live. I have a John Deere tractor and the dealer and the owners manual specifies ethanol free gas or ethanol treatment. I use a product like Stabil fuel or Startron fuel treatment in that engine.
My ignorant question... would using one of those products in my truck give the same result as ethanol free fuel would in terms of 4-6% better fuel mileage?
I'm not worried about damage to the engine because of the E15, but there are a couple of trips that we take that I can **almost** get there in one tank of gas. It would be a lot easier on me if I got 5% better mileage and could get to the campground and drop the trailer before going back out to fill up.
North of DC there not much choices only one in Beltsville, MD.
Using http://pure-gas.org/extensions/map.html gives you a maps of all the places.
Bottom line is pure gas has more energy than the ethanol E10 fuel. So you will get more MPG. Everyone results will vary from truck to truck.
I get much better results and great performance in my F150 2001. As it hates any type of water in the fuel. As the weather gets warmer it lives and a drink of STP in its tank. Using E0 helps this and its performance.
