Vacuuming out the water lines
Has anyone tried using a wet/dry vacuum to empty the water out of the fresh water pipes? I do not know what kind of suction pressure the plumbing can withstand. Is this a bright idea?

If you fashion an adapter to get a good seal, it should work. You really want high volume not high pressure to blow out (or suck out) the lines.
It shouldn't create enough of a pressure differential to damage anything as the water system is meant to run at 30-40psi.
Used to use a shop vac on our hot tub (as recommended by the manufacturer) worked fine.
