- Jim_ShoeExplorer IIThanks for remembering. I'm a Viet Nam Era Vet, although I never left Pensacola, FL. I was Navy Reserve and faced two years of active duty from 69 to 71. On my "Dream Sheet" I requested an aircraft carrier home ported in Boston because I had friends from there. I was too dumb to know that there are no aircraft carriers in Boston. But at the time, the USS Lexington, a WWII aircraft carrier, was in dry dock in Boston being refitted. So that's where the computer sent me. When the refitting was done, the "Lady Lex" returned to her regular home port in Pensacola. We never left the Gulf of Mexico. My entire time in the service was a series of dumb lucky mistakes on my part.
And I still grieve for friends of mine that weren't as lucky, and salute those that came home. - JudgerrExplorerX3
