And... Reversed

There was another post on RV.net a few weeks ago about another state doing something similar. Stirred lot of emotion among our RV.net member! After our choice of truck, I think this is probably the next sensitive issue for RVers. Thanks for the information!

You're a bit behind the news. The change was reversed before it was implemented. Nothing is changing.

Well Virginia you are a day late & a dollar short as my plans have already changed from Virginia Beach to the Outer Banks because of your carry policy, or now your former policy. I know my 2k is not a drop in a large bucket but it will go to North Carolina.
Does anyone think those 25 states listed just randomly give out conceal carry permits to anyone. I think the actual background check for all states is pretty much the same. The difference is some states require a class on guns & some do not. Some states require you to take a test and fire the gun at a range & some do not. Some states require you to be fingerprinted, some do not. And on and on.
My hope is that all states require the same requirements and the permit is good anywhere.
In the article from "The Hill", posted by blangen, the Virginia governor stated, "dangerous people who would not pass a background check in Virginia could obtain fire arms in states with weaker gun laws & bring them into Virginia". This statement is more of a purchasing a gun than conceal carry, but any way, Note to governor: dangerous people do not abide by any gun laws of any state.....

Its a good idea to check each state as you travel. Some instructors either get over zealous how many states accept them or just have old info.

I have the CCW app from Workman Consulting LLC on my phone. It only costs $1.99, is always up to date, and provides an amazing amount of info about CCW across the USA. According to my phone app, my Ohio CCW permit is good in 40 states.

I highly recommend the app to those that carry so you can stay up to date on all the rules.

I've seen a number of RV websites promoting a book on gun laws. With the rules constantly changing, any book is outdated by the time you receive the thing from the printer.

I thought we had a pretty stringent requirements for ccw and we were on the list that they were not going to honor. I have to take 16 hours and demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in using my firearm (even though some call it the Ray Charles test). I then have to attend another class at 2 years with an hour class and shoot, and after 4 years I get to go to another 4 hour class and shoot again.

I have heard Michigan may soon be joining that list of states that do not meet. But.. Well time will tell.. My interest is academic since I do not CCW.

The story on this is Mike Bloomberg spent a lot of money to get anti-gun Governor and Attorney General elected and this was to be the pay back. The general assembly told the Governor they could and would pass a law legalizing open carry with a veto proof majority so the Governor backed off the proposal. All just politics and not pretty. Jim.
