Visited states map

I see this subject pop up from time to time... not sure if this site specifically has been linked before, I did a search and didn't get any hits so here goes:

http://www.defocus.net/visitedstates/us-canada.html <- edited into a clicky, keep forgetting its not automagic here :)

It's more for your signature or other on line postings, but I guess you could take the output to a vinyl sign shop and have them print you a big sticker. The neat thing is it'll give you just about any size you want.

My map so far...
  • I've never seen any "rules" for the visited states map. My personal rule is to fill in the states where I've camped overnight. That leaves the northeast, the west coast and Oklahoma. I've never been in Washington or Oregon, but they're on my list. I've been in or through all the others but not camped there.
  • I guess the rules are just an alternative to the random colors. I found the link via social networking from a circle of computer programmers, we like rules I guess :)
  • 46 states on a motorcycle. and mostly tent camping.

I will not admit to ever being in Kansas ...

Now truck and 21mb... and YES I still have a motorcycle.
  • Hawaii is all we have left but they haven't built the bridge yet. Tried the map thing but my computer won't let me save it. :S

I picked this up in a bookstore a couple of years ago.

I looked at this years version and the rules seem to be the same.
  • I think the original poster was asking about the map in many of the signatures.
If you go to "Forum Help and Support" at the top of any page, one of the choices is about creating your own visited states map. That's the one that appears in most people's signature block. The "Rules" I was talking about: Some folks fill in states they've driven through in the RV, others (like me) fill in states where I've overnighted in the RV, and, I suppose some folks fill in any state they've been in, however they got there.
