Walmart etiquette?

I have never stayed in a Wal-mart parking lot, But from what I've seen I didn't know there was such a thing as > Walmart etiquette.<
I have seen RV parked with slides out, lawn chairs taking up one parking space, pet's tied to the RV. just a little of every thing. I guess they wanted to feel at home.

sure ask and we,ve even had a evening meal with church members. not all churchs share your thoughs.

Who set the etiquette rules? I set my own, based on what Walmart managers tell me whenever I ask THEM. However, I do NOT camp at Walmart. All I do is "overnight", or simply "park".
Yes, I'm a member of SKP and FMCA, and I've read what they suggest.

The way I look at it is that RVers are slowly taking more and more advantage of the gracious opportunity and as we are seeing, overnight stay will eventually be eliminated. The key, as I see it, is that everybody has a different idea of where that line is on being acceptable to do in the parking lot. You can read some of the above posts and see that people draw a line, but that line is individual, and once the homeless RVer starts staying in the parking lot all the time, management will be forced to stop it. Just like all rules, the few ruin it for the rest of us. IMHO

Like the clowns who got overnight parking banned at the Cottonwood Arizona Walmart. And it was interesting to note that the "witness" had been "camping" at the Walmart for four days.

Those folks don't know there's such a thing either. Eventually they will ruin it for everyone.

It looks like with your model you have no other choice but to let out the slide with your RV. If you were looking to stock up and possibly stay over the night, I'd get a lay of the land. Is there place you can park where the slide wouldn't impact traffic flow or parking? Not get sprayed from below from sprinklers? This is important for you as well as the store, you don't want anyone hitting it. Whats the situation with other RVs? Slides out? Generally things go better if you blend in and not stand out.

Ideally I'd rather not have slide out, I'd like to leave fast if I had to. But I've seen a lot of RVs in Walmart with slides out. If you had to overnight that way what's one more?

Interesting that someone mentioned homeless staying at WM. I've been noticing the campers at my local WM have taken on a questionable character (not the people, I never see them) as in the vehicle are looking barely parking lot worthy let alone road worthy. And the volume has increased dramatically. I can imagine the local population starting to complain about the homeless camp look to the shared (by other stores) environment.
Slideouts seems to be the least of the potential problems.

That happened at WMs in several Texas cities... they became a de-facto CG for rigs barely road-worthy, problems with drugs and petty crime start happening, and WM finally hands out out trespass notices and makes that location into a no-overnighting location. The WM nearest me has always been an overnighting prohibited location from the get-go (although they do not own the land and facilities, so it likely isn't in their control.)

This does concern me. Texas ripped out virtually all its rest stops and turnoff points in the past few years, so if someone needs to rest, the only real alternative was hitting a WM on a trip, which worked until recently. Wonder where people will go if WM decides to just do a corporate "no overnighting" policy across all locations. I personally have never overnighted at a WM, but there are plenty of reasons why it is useful, especially if there are no CGs around, CGs are full, or just taking a rest and want to park for a few hours.

I know in Austin, come SXSW, some people will park in people's driveways and stay there until the police arrive and give them a formal notice to leave, then move one driveway over, and stay there. The only way to get rid of them is to have a "tow away zone" sign in plain sight on the property.

What I notice here is Walmart and other lots are posted no overnight. But it appears there are a few likely homeless in older RVs staying quite consistently. I've seen one particular RV for months at a time, but not always there and never in same spot. These are fairly upscale locations 15 miles from beach. The parking lots are not impacting residences, they're too far away. At least my impression the stores and law enforcement tolerate this as long as it doesn't get out of hand (mess, noise, complaints). The other thing I suspect is some of these so called homeless people are not fitting into the classic definition. They appear to have some income, and living a different lifestyle. I suspect some have state park annual pass and migrate to beach (or other park day use) by day and back to these lots for the night.
