Wasps in the motor home mirrors

Any suggestions on what to do about wasps in your motor home mirrors? I assume because of the electric wiring one should not use wasp spray. Would covering the mirrors with plastic bags damage the mirrors? All suggestions are welcomed!
  • I used the hose and a good stream of water to flush them out. One year they didn't want to give up so I used hot water to get rid of them.
  • Hi,

The shop vac will pull off their wings, and effectively kill them.

I might also suggest a black trash bag, then seal it. A couple of hours in the sun, the inside temp will reach well over 120F, and certainly kill them off. They will probably also fly out of the mirror assembly, to the cooler trash bag surface.

You can trap them after dark, wearing thick gloves, heavy thick coat, long pants, and you should be safe. .

    Fred.
  • They have invaded a mirror on my pickup this year. I've sprayed it a couple times. I'm less worried about the potential but doubtful electrical issues.
  • I would just give em a good spray. I doubt any damage will occur.
  • If you have a good shop vac, set up the nozzle where they enter or exit the mirror. As they come and go, in a couple of hours all of them will be sucked into the shop vac.

I don't think the wasp spray will hurt the mirror wiring, but all of the dead bees could jam up the motors - possibly?
