- AJRExplorerWhite hoses are right for people that hook up to campground water and leave their hoses out in the hot sun all day. I am guessing they all so drink bottled water. I tried the hose in the sun way back with my first TT. I happen to like a cold glass of water or two in the afternoon. That was not happening unless all the hot water was purged out of the hose first. That put a fair amount of water in the gray tank.
So I have used my fresh water tank ever since for everything. Yes, I drink out of an old 50’ garden hose at home that lays outside all winter. In the summer it is under pressure 24/7 just laying round outside in the sun. Oh, it is used to fill the camper’s fresh water tank before a trip. It is real simple. Run water through it till it is nice and cold before drinking or filling the water tank (through a filter).
I use a correct white hose for refilling with campground water. But I run water through it till it is cold first. You would be surprised how long that can take at some campgrounds.
Think my Daddy taught me the cold water trick back in about 1947. - WyoTravelerExplorer

does any one out there use any special hoses other than normal garden hoes?
I fill the tank using a normal garden hose at home. I carry one of those expensive white hoses in case I end up at a full hookup CG.
Been drinking from a regular hose on and off for decades, haven't died yet.
For years when I was much younger and also during my childhood days I used pesticides and never wore a mask. Also never wore seat belts before 1955. Some of us have been very lucky and are still alive. As I grow older I don't roll the dice and take as many chances. :B When I flew airplanes for a hobby there was an old proverb. Egad! I've been drinking well water from a garden hose for 50 years. I must be dead. ~ Buy a white hose and save yourself.
That may be true, but 50 years ago the garden hose wasn't made in China! Who knows what they put in the plastic for those hoses.
Likely if the white hose in made in China, I may not want to use it. - ReneeGExplorer

I use the approved white drinking water hose.
Same here. - HarvardExplorerA white hose laying in the summer sun will not get as hot (and possibly burst) as a dark coloured hose.
- ncrowleyExplorer IIWe always use a white water hose for drinking water and that is what we see most people using.
- pianotunaNomad IIIUse the white hoses intended for potable water.

Do not use anything but the above. You may use other hoses, OTHER THAN WHITE for anything else. For drinking you must use the white hose. I also have a a 1 micro filter in line before any water enters the coach. - 2oldmanExplorer IIGarden hoes are usually for gardening.
