Waxing trailer

We have a 2015 Keystone Cougar with hard sidewalls. I know there has been some discussion on this, but when I searched waxing trailer no results came up. I have oxidation on the front cap. I tried McQuiars cleaner wax which worked ok. The other 3 sides don't have any oxidation.I used Armoral on a portion of the one side and that seemed to work as good as the wax, plus it had the benefit of making the vynal door and window trim look good. I doubt the Armoral will last so my question is,what do most of you find that works the best?

  • X4 on 303 for the graphics...

ANY of the automotive wax's cold be used for the walls, and cap. IF you have a cap that gets sun most of the time , I would make sure that you apply a coat of wax to that area every couple of months at the least..

You need to lower the UV rays that are going to destroy the finish..
  • 303 on the graphics & roof, after cleaning.

For the front cap a 2 step process. 3M marine cleaner wax for light oxidation & bug stain removal. Meguires Flagship wax, expensive, for protection & lasting shine. The Flagship goes on everything else gelcoat. A once a year job for me.

As it happens today is wax day in preparation for 6 month indoor winter storage. Next spring will be rinse off the dust, 303 the graphics again, & we are good to go.
  • I use Jasco Liquid Prepaint Conditioner (sold at Big Box stores) diluted in a garden sprayer for final cleaning and oxidation removal. If there is wax on the surface, I add in a butyl cleaner. Spray, brush, spray, rinse.

Any top brand marine wax is a good choice and if you can burnish it on with a buffer, it will be more durable (and lovely). Collinite is another good wax product. I have been experimenting with Parfe Liquid Wax and results have all been positive. Spray with garden sprayer, let dry. Second coat for more lustre.
  • High quality wax and grease from the elbow at least twice per year. I like Meguiars Mirror Glaze #26 Hi-Tech Paste.
  • Armorall will likely destroy the graphics just like it does vinyl. I urge you not to use it on them. In fact, I would quickly wash it off.
Any automotive wax will work nicely on the sides and graphics without hurting them.
The best thing to protect the outside of your RV is to keep the sun off it somehow.
