WDH angle?

I went from 3 washers to 5 washers on mine, and the weight transferred to the front axle went from 60-120 lbs. to 260 lbs. The bars on mine are parallel with the trailer tongue using 7 links.

Adding washers and head tilt is the proper way of getting the bars where you want them. You try to get the bars at the proper weight distribution with at least 5 links under tension (more is better).

Using less than 5 links risks the chains dragging the snap-up brackets on the a frame or the chain hitting the brackets during turns. Also, if the bars are slanted upwards in the rear, they can crash into the frame.

Try putting enough washers on the pin to allow you to get the proper weight distribution you need with at least 5 chain links under tension. It that is enough then tighten everything up and you are good to go. If not, then tilt the head a bit more, add another washer, and try again. It is kind of a trial and error thing and cannot usually be done on the first try.

You might consider going to the next heavier bar

When we had our Work & Play, I had to add the full 8 washers to our Equalizer to get it set up correctly. 8 is the max. recommended. After that, it worked perfectly. LOTS of tension but outstanding WD and sway control.

Thanks. That's what suspected and that's how I had it previously. When we got our new trailer the guy at the dealer removed a few washers. I'll probably put them back. I like plenty of tension but don't want to get too close to the frame.
