Yeah, sure, there's something to be said for not 'stupidly' tailgating, but it's not that simple and I'm thinking your opinion is very much in the minority.

I think enough folks have posted that the law is pretty clear...dropping big heavy frozen stuff off of your vehicle is illegal.

By your logic, there's no need to strap down 4 by 8 sheets of plywood. If one flies off, it's the problem of the vehicle behind?

OK, maybe it's wise to risk the ticket vs. falling off a ladder if it's truly fresh, loose snow up there.

However, there's quite a few, innocent dead people (and plenty of lost lawsuits) from harder chunksof stuff flying off.

I would love to see some figures on Connecticut's snow on the roof enforcement.
I would bet dollars to donuts that the only time a citation is written is after an accident or specific complaint.

so tried removing some snow off the top with snow rake. stuff was had as a rock. if you look he did chip at it. that stuff is cement and will not melt for a while.

Connecticut is very strict with snow on the roof it doesn't matter if you are a car,box truck, 18 wheeler or trailer they will ticket you and it is not cheap.

Many 18 wheeler trailer roofs are not rated to walk on. The roof is designed to keep the load dry while driving down the road. They are no where near as strong as an RV roof.

I never once thought of climbing onto a 13' 6" high trailer to remove the snow. First low underpass---most of it will come off. Eventually, it will all blow/slide off, or MELT. Once in a while, I would get stopped trying to enter the T/P in Ohio. Mostly they would see the snow and override the height sensor. Occassionaly, some toll taker with too much authority would refuse to let me on the T/P.

Worse part was never YOU GUYS BEHIND ME...get over it. The part that scared the******out of me is when I would stop and that ice slide onto the roof of my cab. Surprises me every time!!!! Makes one hell of a crashing sound.

48 F and raining here today. The next few days are forecast to be sunny, highs in the mid-50s and lows around 40. We watch the TV weather reports about the mid-West and East Coast with a certain detachment. We had a mild overnight frost (30F) a couple of days ago.

Sure, it can be dull grey and wet for several weeks in winter, but I'm more than happy to trade that for what the mid-West and East Coast are having. We're about 50 miles south of the border with Canada, and we haven't see any snow this winter. Most nights since early November the temp hasn't dropped below about 26F.
