So I have a Weber Q200 that I bought and used for two years while we had our camper. It worked great when we did use it but we sold our whole camping rig in 2011. Last summer I tried using it at home and it wouldn't heat up. So I finally called Weber and ordered a Gas Regulator Valve a couple weeks ago to hopefully use it this summer at home. So after waiting a week and a half I call them and they said it's in stock but they couldn't answer me when it would ship or if it would ever ship so I cancelled my order. Apparently this part is on some sort of shortage because I checked online at a couple of places and it's out of stock. So now it's summer and I'm stuck without a grill. I'm not exactly thrilled about Weber customer service nor the fact that it stopped working after just two years of occasional use. So now if I want to grill I'm stuck with buying a new one but not a Weber. Is my Q200 worth saving? It's taking up room in my garage and I have a cart for it and cover and hose so it's kind of a waste to toss it but it's just a very bulky paper weight with no parts availability. Sorry for my rant but I'm a little more than pissed here. Any thoughts???On another note, can someone recommend a decent grill for home besides Weber? Thanks.

I checked Amazon, and the replacement regulator is $100. Hardly worth fixing.I have a 200 and love it. Hope it doesn't break in 2 years. The regulator on it is much better than cheaper grills.

We use ours almost daily and it's served us well for the past 8 years!

Here is another source for the part, $34. They say that they expect to get them back in stock 7/1/14. They probably are waiting on a production run. Grill Parts

Just a shot, but it may not be the regulator. Mine was the same and after inspection I discovered all the holes in the burner tube where crusted over and most completely closed. I used a piece of wire to clean the holes (LOTS of holes!) and it was like new. I now carry a set of welding torch tip cleaners and clean the holes every spring and around mid-summer.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Last summer I completely disassembled the grill and cleaned everything. Took off the burner tube the regulator and gave it a good once over cleaning and inspection. Everything looked okay. I suppose I'll keep it around to see if I can find the regulator for $35 at some point incase I ever get another RV but forget about waiting all summer to get it as far as using it anytime soon so I'll be shopping for a new home grill NOT A WEBER though. I suppose if I don't find the part I guess $100 per summer wasn't that bad of an investment but not so great either on something that's supposed to be a good product. At least I quickly learned their customer service sucks so as to steer clear of them. LOL Thanks....

Not sure what you're talking about? The part I had ordered from Weber customer service was exactly $36.10 which I was going to gladly pay. The issue is their customer service is so crappy they can't get it shipped and can't explain why. Personally I think their system is all screwed up falsely telling them it's in stock when it's not. All the other suppliers online list them for a similar price but are not available until July but last week that July date said May 23rd so obviously there's an issue with the manufacture. I've been reading reviews about full size grills and Webers under $1000 aren't what they're cracked up to be. Typical story of a company relying on their reputation to save money.

I luv my Weber, and will keep it going as long as I can, then will buy another. Best grill I ever had!

The majority of Bar B Q Parts such as Regulators,Hoses and Burners are available from sources other than the Manufacturer!

That said the sum of the replacement parts can quickly approach the cost of a complete replacement.

Re the Weber ...These are a whole lot better Made than most of the Shiny Stainless Steel Looking units currently available !

We just purchased a Q 1000 which replaces the Q100 at a slightly higher price!

So far We are happy with the Grill although The design of the Burner will stop Me from using Sauces. And Marinades as they can drop right unto and into the Holes which face upwards.

Fortunately for Me ,we both prefer the better Cuts of Meat which don't need sauces to taste wonderful.

I have both a 100 and a 200 and I'm extremely happy with them. That said, I've replaced the regulator on the 200 twice. I believe that using the bulk tank causes the problem since I've only used the throwaway tanks the last two years and haven't had a regulator problem since. Might just have to look into the filter to see if that would work.

This April my Q220 caught fire and pretty much destroyed itself. These are some photos that I sent to Weber:

BTW, the grill was on a wood porch when it caught fire. Burning plastic fell on the deck and could easily have torched the deck if we had not caught it in time.

When I contacted Weber, they asked me if I cleaned the regulator (nope) and always checked the external tank connections with soapy water (also nope).

They sent me a bunch of replacement parts, but long story short, I decided to just pitch the grill.

Not sure if I'll buy another Q, but I will definitely perform preventive maintenance from now on.

We have had our weber for over 7 years now and we have not had to replace one thing. It works perfectly. We clean it after each use, wash the grill and wipe out the bottom and the burner. It was used for 2 years every day even in the snow and freezing temps. Sorry you are having bad luck. Yours is the first complaint I have heard.

It means I can't spell on an iPhone.... Supposed to say swapped.

My Q100 regulator got weaker and weaker, finally dieing where the flame was there but never came up to temp. I bought the generic hardware store regulator that screws into the valve and screwed in a POL on the other end with one off the shelf adapter. Ever so slightly longer when done but zero problem.The flame is now slightly higher than the OEM on Hi, but still a nice blue, and WAY hotter when needed. I can easily make 600 degrees now. I'm glad I did this so the next time it happens there will be no issue whatsoever replacing it for probably $12-15 or less.

BTW- looking around on the forum, these regulators apparently fail all the time. My neighbor is on #3
