Weekend plans almost ruined???

Setting here at home last night and the Buffalo NY TV station was talking about the 300+ reserve personnel that were sent home due to the budget cuts. We're leaving this Friday for Westover ARB in Mass to visit my son thru the 14th. I could just see me having to jump out my A$$ to try and find a campground in New England that had an open site over Columbus weekend during peak fall foliage time there!!!!!
Well luck's on my side talked to Recreation Services at Westover this morning, and they are not effected by the GVMT shut down - YEAAAAA!!!

  • because they are a Non-Appropriated Fund activity that the budget shut down does not effect them.

I'd still keep checking. The administration has closed private campgrounds and other things that are on federal land.
  • Talked to the man from Rec. Services this morning, said that because they are a Non-Appropriated Fund activity that the budget shut down does not effect them. My son called last night too saying that the # of flights out of there was way down, his work is right off the back side of the runway.
  • Are you sure?
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — The government shutdown is impacting the military operation at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee.

On Tuesday, Westover was eerily quiet as the impact of the shut down hits home.

“This morning, several hundred people were sent home until further notice without pay,” says Colonel James Bishop, Chief Public Affairs Officer at Westover.
