- cs2kplusExplorerI was backing into my steep driveway. I am thinking I may just remove the bars in that case only. Otherwise I hear all the hmmm and hawww of the linkages.

X2, and I never removed the bars with my old EZ Lift either. - hbillsmithExplorerIf your type of WDH has a built-in anti-sway function, disable that to make backup turns easier. Release the sway bar, drop the chains or un-mount the bars whatever. I found that to work best for me.
- Golden_HVACExplorerMost hitches are only rated at say 7,500 pounds while not using a WD system. I know that rating is for towing down the freeway at 55 MPH, and your backing will only be done a few feet into a campsite at less than 10 MPH, but still it is a rating!
Yes many do disconnect their hitch wile backing up, if they will be making really tight turns. . .
Good luck,
Fred. - Jayco254ExplorerI've got 2 friction sway bars and never take them off when backing but you have to be sure they are mounted perfect.
- jrp26789ExplorerI believe the friction type sway should be disconnected. So that in a tight turn you don't bend everything. I use an equalizer, I leave it on.
- cs2kplusExplorerCool. Thanks Everyone!
- bob213ExplorerI never remove mine while backing. (Equalizer)
- N-TroubleExplorerNo just leave it on and disconnect when you get parked.
- Dakota98ExplorerI remove the sway bar, but that's all.
