Ogordont,
At your suggestion, I just checked the last 100 year history for the climate and weather data for the Oregon coast compiled by Oregon State University and NOA.
Not a lot of snow is true but you'd better like lots of drizzle, rain, fog, humidity, wind, and lots and lots and lots of clouds almost 10 months a year. Clear and sunny is a rare breed most of the year! July and August were decent and about like Northern Indiana but the other nearly 10 months really sucks!
We can personally say that the 3 times we've been there, OSU's data was spot on. Seen a couple hours of sun on one day on one trip at Coos Bay. Then it rained and drizzled with fog the next 2 days again in mid June. Won't get many people to leave Indiana for that type of "climate". Yup, makes perfect sense as without lots of rain, there would be so much green along the coast! However, the west coast of Washington was even a lot worse all the way south to Astoria, OR where the constant downpour gave way to a miserable constant drizzle.
No place is perfect! O'well...
