What do you do?

For us it really depends on how close the camp sites are. We love to listen to music, and sit by the fire if its not over 90 at night. Enjoy the adult beverage flavors of the night, and I enjoy cooking on the fire. This year I’m thinking of learning to play an instrument, just for fun.

It depends on the age of the crowd.

We fuss with the fire.

We play music if nobody is around.

We watch the dogs explore and bring us things to play fetch (again, if nobody is around).

If there are kids around, we tell them about "The Talking Stick" and explain that whoever has it gets to run the conversation. And then we teach them about progressive stories where one person starts the tale, and then you pass to the next person who picks up where the last left off and continues the epic tale. Kids love it.

If there aren't any kids, we tell grownup stories about previous camps and previous rides.

If it's just my wife and i, we stay quiet and admire the dogs chasing through the desert night. Sometimes we quietly play podcasts.

The fire is a living thing, and it's never the same twice.

Don't have campfires due to irritant smoke
But we do like to sit out under the awning and have few adult beverages
Talking, recounting/remembering the recent events....past events, planning next days adventure out exploring the local area/our next destination etc

And just plain relaxing

Few adult drinks, sometimes music (not loud) generally we will hang around the fire pit for about an hour before packing it in.

yeah there has been a few trips where the bugs have chased us in.

I paint, catch up on reading, play cards, definitely drink cocktails of every kind.

We enjoy chatting with friends mostly.

Break out the chairs, wine glasses and bottle of wine! Sit back and watch the newbies park!
