I can't understand why some misspell POOP backwards... makes no sense to me! :R - whencanwegoExplorer

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right! It doesn't take that much effort. A well written and correctly spelled comment is much easier to read and understand. Most browsers will do spell check for you but they have limitations. I realize some participants here say it is no big deal but putting some effort into writing correctly is important to me. If you cannot distinguish simple spelling mistakes and make corrections you must not really care much about what you are saying. Some will take issue with this point of view but like it or not being able to communicate well in written form has immense benefits in the real world. All of us will occasionally make an error we miss when writing and that is not the issue. Constantly abusing the language in written form will get you written off as uneducated, and not someone to take seriously. Just my opinion.

I will however admit to using dot-dot-dot frequently, but even Wikipedia gives me a pass on using it to indicate a slight pause...drumroll please!
Do what I've decided to do....ADD a dot! (Do ya see it, huh, do ya?)
Now all that's left is to come up with a name for this Brand New Punctuation "mark" and we'll make it into the next edition of Miss Manners' Guide to Punctuation! :) - BBFDExplorerMy favorite is 'What kind of milage does everybody get with their X brand vehicle?'

I won the bet.
That is hilarious.
Of course you should feel bad for taking advantage of someone as you knew for sure you could not lose the bet. ;) - 2oldmanExplorer II

My favorite mis-answered question is one I hear often on TV shows: "Do you mind if I...?". Answer: "Oh sure, yeah."
Also, the question should be: "Would you please tell me?" As it is currently written, they are asking about your ability to tell them who made you an expert, not who that person would be.
(You mean you DO mind?)
And.. this just in: dilema. - IvylogExplorer III

X 20! I see this on a lot of forums - so much so I seriously believe many think this is the correct spelling of a speed retarding device! Of course, it doesn't help that "break" is a legitimate word & will be skipped by most spell checkers.

My dad was uneducated. He was also one of the most respected men in the county.
I don't lose respect for anyone here because of their misspelling but I do not have a lot of repect for those on here that bash other people and/or think their way is the only correct way to do anything.
If you thought that was bashing you haven't spent much time on this forum. Also there is only one correct way to spell most words and use them correctly according to all of my English teachers. Keep in mind I was quite clear it was only my opinion, no need to make it personal. - sidneyExplorerThank you for your participation.
