What makes RV'ing special to you?

I see negative posts time after time. I thought maybe a post of what people enjoy about it. If you want to post a negative post there are a plethora of other threads in witch to do so.

I like the camaraderie of visiting with like minded people about a common interest. Sharing a cup of coffee or an adult beverage under the awning or around a campfire. Another poster said it best ((if I wanted peace and quite I would stay home)).

I like Boone docking as well in remote areas with beautiful scenery. I guess I like the variety of having choices.

So what makes RVing special to you?
  • Different places different views out of windows every day. All in comfort.
  • Quality family time, making memories, adventure, hiking, fishing, kayaking. Teaching my kids cooking, fire building, responsibility. It is so good
  • In our big DP motorhome, pulling my 4x4 GMC Envoy, it's the most convenient way of going from A to B. We know what we have on the road, and when we get there. And, we get to take our 3 little dogs. My wife travels in comfort, and I have fun driving. It's all pretty special.

We are more into the camping side of the so called RV'ing... I sort of look at it as RV TRAVELERS and RV CAMPING...

We have all the modern conveniences but really love to camp off the power grid scene and not really too interested of traveling more than a few hours each direction.

Gatlinburg or Myrtle Beach is about as far as we want to get away. Love spending several days camping along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the high country of VA-WVA-NC-SC-TN-GA-AL.

When I was working I was allowed to take the long roads going and coming back from the work sites. This got us to make a couple of home trips to North Texas and camp in SOUTH OKLA and ARK-MIS areas.

Our local camping at SKYLINE DRIVE, SHERANDO LAKE, and WESTMORELAND VA areas are always great camping runs both TENT and OFF-ROAD POPUP setups...

Camping for us is minimal expenses...

It all depends what makes you happy I reckon...

  • Favorite part is uninterrupted family time. No chores, no phone, no work just fun. I love to get up at sunrise and wander around the campground with my dog talking to all of the early birds and smelling the bacon.
  • I like the idea of being able to go wherever I'd like to go.

I had the option to buy a permanently installed unit in a campground and, while I didn't entirely hate the idea, I didn't like the idea of always vacationing at the same place all the time. Some people have cottages and like that kind of thing, I get it... but I like seeing different things.

I also like walking around a campground and seeing the different units out there and what people have done with them. RVers are, for the most part, friendly folk and willing to have a conversation on just about anything.
  • Wow. Good post. Wife and I were just talking about this. To me the RV is just so darn cozy! With all it's negatives it is still a blast and most all of the people we have met are fantastic.

It's so interesting to meet all sorts of different people. People in something that's $300,000 and people living in a $300.00 mini van. I have hung out at the campfire with a guy dying of cancer. Another young guy hiking the Florida trail. People traveling on bicycles. Helped a guy get his dead motorhome going as the campground owner was waiting because someone else was on the way for that spot. (Betty's RV Park). Abbelville La start of summer concert series downtown square.

Louisiana/Mississippi was one of our best people areas so far :)

I was looking for a camp ground near Tallahassee and just thought I'd ask a guy shopping in Walmart. He said he thought he knew where it was but got his ex wife on the phone to be sure. I was telling him NO NO you dont have to do that. As I was checking out he came up in line and handed me his home and cell number and said if I have any trouble at all just call him.
  • Enjoying quality time with family and friends, visiting new places, sightseeing, the great outdoors and meeting people with same interests.
  • You meet the nicest people camping from all walks of life.

And my wife can rest and sleep late--without all the daily chores she does at home.

We especially like our 1/2 day tours around the campgrounds--visiting new places.
