What to do about dead new microwave?

Was heating water this am and heard a spark and smelled burned component.

Microwave still has power, light, spinning tray. Does not heat up water.

Skyline eco camp. Advent microwave. Used only 4-5 times.

I am 1000miles away from my dealer and getting further. Can I find any dealer for warranty work or is it a lost cause? Easy to replace with a new one?

  • The last time this happened to our Dometic convection/microwave (our 3rd under warranty) we called Dometic. They sent the new one to a mobile tech that does lots of repair work in the RV park we were staying at and the mobile tech took care of the replacement. They even payed him a fee for the job and we did not have to pay anything. Dometic considers their microwaves as a consumable item and makes no attempt to repair them. Keep in mind that they do not give you a brand new warranty with the new unit. We pitched a fit over that and they did add an additional year to the original warranty since it was our 3rd unit.
  • Call the microwave manufacture, assuming it is still under warranty, and they will guide you in the right direction relative to a fix or a replacement.
  • See if you can find a dealer that sells your brand of camper, and talk to them. They should honor the warranty of the tyoe they sell. Also, You may have to contact the microwave dealer to get a replacement.
