Yes this charger should meet the battery specifications.
The 5 amps might prove a bit slow if using a generator.
Biggest issue is charging must be limited to 24 amps, I suggest 20 max. Converter is probably 50+ amps.
Leoch LPG12-100 charging specs
A solar panel charging at 8 to 15 amps might be the ticket in the future. - mdaExplorerLook at a Trojan Group 27 Deep Cycle AGM. It is a brute. Plenty of juice and it charges up fast.
- nevadanickExplorerMy motorhome doesnt have room for bigger batteries and i have alwys been a 2-6 v user. I went to Walmart and bought 2 24DC Maxx batteries and last weekend the heate ran quite alot through the night and in the morning they were going as strong as they started out.
- Blanco1ExplorerI was thinking about this for all 3 batteries the 2 under the hood & the one in the camper.

I doubt your converter or portable charger is compatible with a GEL battery.
Life could be short unless you find and follow the correct charging specs including max voltage and current.
GEL is more of a standby battery.
I was told this one would be a good match for it?

I plan a camping trip this weekend & hope it gets cold enough to use the furnace & see if it keeps the heat going through the night?
Of course this will be in SoCal & our big trips takes us to places like Co & will be demanding more from the battery. - http://www.atbatt.com/leoch-12v-100ah-deep-cycle-gel-cell-battery.asp

led replacement for all of your incandescent 12 volt bulbs will create as much capacity as adding a battery
I do plan a new years project of replacing to LED's & a roof mounted solar pana to keep the batteries charged.
& to be honest we spend most of our time outside while camping & so we really don't use the battery much.
yet I do just now remember how the Geni reacts to a fully charged battery.
& makes me wonder if I should paid more.
Right away I noticed the geni running better? - VeebyesExplorer IIDo the research. Cram as many amps that you can in the space available. The fewer the connections the better also. Pay attention to group sizes e.g. group 27 vs group 31 batterys. Maybe a single battery like a 4D or 8D will work for you.
What type of battery works best for you? Wet cells need to be mounted upright & have ventilation. AGMs can be mounted anywhere anyway. They are sealed & non gassing.
AGMs are popular with boaters for this reason. They are often located under berths. Being a boater at heart I swapped the piddly group 24 12V wet cells for a single 4D AGM in 2010. It is still going as strong as the day installed. We do a fair amount of dry camping. - traveylinExplorerled replacement for all of your incandescent 12 volt bulbs will create as much capacity as adding a battery
