- pitchExplorer IIWe only carry about 200.00 split between us. Most of our spending is on plastic. We do have a one ounce Kruggerand stashed in case of the Zombie Apocalypse. I figure if the machines go down I can always find a pawn shop.

Don't park your rig in an empty field where nobody can see it. Thieves hate witnesses. But if you have no better choices:
Seal your valuables in a baggie, then put the baggie and a rock in a plastic quart storage container (I use Ziploc), and drop the container in the toilet tank. Not the bowl (Yuk). Finally, turn a radio on. Thieves can't be sure there isn't somebody still inside and they could be armed.
Who has a toilet tank in an RV ? The only HOLE I know of in an RV toilet takes you to the black hole !- icanonExplorer

That's the plan put it in the black hole and retrieve it when emptying it, just be sure to unhook the slinky to catch it as it goes by or it's bye bye. :B - Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIWhen we went to Alaska (and not knowing how much actual cash we needed) - I hid some money by removing a drawer in the bedroom, and then taping a ziplock bag to the front of the cabinet below the drawer. In other words, if a thief pulled out the drawer, they would not see it.
Another safe spot might be in a box of feminine products ;-) Tape a $100 bill inside a roll of TP. Or there are countless "can safes" - tins that look like soup, but the bottom can be opened.
Normally, Ed and I just split the cash-carrying duties between us. As others have said, given how fast an RV can burn, we figure our money was safer with us. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII have a real good hidey-hole in our 5th wheel.
Now if I could just remember where it is I would have an extra $500 - bpadamsonExplorer

Not trying to be smart or insulting. But why would one carry enough cash that this would be a worry. I carry my cash in my pocket and use debit for just about everything.
I have always wondered this also as I have read here from some who do not use credit cards and carry cash with them. Seems old school to me. - captnjackExplorer

Our strategy is to leave $10.00 in open site. The rest is tucked way, divided out, put in different places. We have some panels that can be removed, and we carry some, and some stays in the truck, and there are several places in the truck we can use.
If someone breaks in, we leave an easy target. They can grab the exposed cash and run. Maybe they won't destroy the rest of the camper that way searching. If it's that valuable, it stays home! We have no need to travel with a passport. But if we do, they travel right with us, just like our billfolds.
Where do you generally travel? 1962?
You might want to bump up that ten dollars a little. I think it may be just enough to make them angry. After all, breaking in does take a little work and they'll want to see some level of payoff for it. - DrewEExplorer III installed a little (and not really highly secure) digital safe; there was some unused room underneath the queen bed next to the fresh water tank and pump. Even if it's not super secure, it does give a consistent spot to keep important papers and petty cash and helps keep kids out of the s'mores chocolate supply.
If someone were to break into my motorhome, I think losing some cash would be among the least of my worries.
