Where to put da dogs??

As usual, too many assumptions are being made of the OPs brief post. It's a dependent upon what a dog is used to. If they are outside dogs (yes, as absolutely crazy as that may seem to most, there ARE outside only pets still here in this country), then it would not be an issue crating them in the bed of the truck, assuming adequate cover and ventilation. But yes, if they are spoiled house dogs (as mine is), then the dog wouldn't like it much. Of course, they would survive (as I would when my AC goes out on my car), but they would just be uncomfortable for a bit.

Put them in the FW. NO, they won't sneak up on to the bed. They promise.

That’s fine for hunting dogs. The OP is talking about companion house pets. Putting them in the back of the truck would traumatize them.

Western Kansas is famous for hunting. Hunting season is in season's with cooler weather as well. We have had temperatures over 100 degrees (Thursday heat index is supposed to be 106 degrees). I have yet to see a dog box in the back of a truck in those temperatures despite being in hunting country and out of season.

In mild temperatures I don't see a issue with a kennel in the back of a truck for a short trip but not several hundreds of miles.

if you want the dogs along, you might have to take another vehicle.. hopefully you're not talking about cross country trips.

Guess no one has ever been in parts of the country where people hunt with dogs? Its totally common for hunters to have kennels in the back of their trucks for their dogs. No one wants a wet muddy dog inside with them! How many jack asses do you see every day driving down the road with their dogs loose in the bed of the truck? I personally adhore that idea. Quite simply the dogs need to ride where the humans are riding. In the vehicle. A crate in the bed of a pickup is not very comfortable ... ours ride in our truck where they belong.

i agree. i would never put dogs in a kennel in the back of truck. even if its not hot or cold would you be comfortable riding there?

we have 4 small dogs that travel everywhere with us. i have 2 medium travel crates in the back seat area of our f250 crew cab. 2 dogs per crate. rear seat folds back and is plenty of room

with 2 larger dogs thats a space problem though

I agree with you on this. I have a crew cab truck took out the back seat and stored it in the garage for reinstallation. I built a platform and use dog beds on top of it for the Collies. I can store stuff under the platform. The Collies are about 95# each.

If your cargo is people then it becomes more of a problem.

We made the dog(s) a top priority when we picked a trailer and a truck...In fact, it's one of the reasons we RV...the ability to bring the dog along.

Putting the dogs in the bed of the truck or having them ride in the trailer is an absolute non- starter for us.

I agree with others. If they won't fit in the truck, board them for that trip.
