Which add-on helper springs?

Supersprings work great and did not effect ride without fifth wheel . They did not claim to increase payload .

I installed Timbren SES units for leaf springs within my previous Tow Vehicle.

I installed Timbren SES units for coil springs within my current Tow Vehicle.

Love them so much, my next vehicle will have Timbren SES units as well.

Timbren SES units don't contain air (no risk of air leak), don't have rebound effect like +1 leaf or add-leaf systems and they are low cost. Simply install them and leave them.

Will RAS increase my payload?

Yes. With the RAS system now supporting the rear leaf springs the payload can be increased by 50% over the vehicle’s rated payload. Even with this additional weight RAS will prevent the vehicle from bottoming out.

I went through this a while back, as I wanted my ATV in the box, as well as a 40gal tank of water in the cab for boondocking. I ended up with a weight distributing hitch, AFTER I put on a set of Hellwig helper springs ($130), and found out it levelled the teuck well, but the rear axle was 350# over-weight with the quad and trailer, and 600(!)lbs over-weight with the tank full.
Do you have a WDH? I got mine for $170 shipped from one of the bigger sites on the net.
I currently run the springs and the WDH, and it sits perfectly level, and my axle weights are both below 100%

There is a lot to be said for simplicity. RAS is an uncomplicated system that does the job.

I always kind of get a question in my mind when someone with an older truck asks a spring question. Have you owned the truck since new? Do you know its history and how it has been used? Leaf springs are not forever, they do wear out eventually. Only takes one 3500# load of gravel to weaken them.
If your truck is not an exceptionally clean, low mileage example take a look.
