If your original tires were 14", I would go with 205/75R15 Load Range D.
225/75R15 Load Range E is way over kill for upgrading from 14" tires. Definitely unnecessary and more costly. Adds nothing to your GVWR and still should be replaced in about 5 years regardless.
Good post.
The OP has small 14" tires on his trailer that most likely have a 1750-1850 lb capacity rating.
There is no need or advantage of moving to a 225/15 E tire at 2850 lb capacity for that small trailer.
Moving on up to a 15" is a great move. All the trailer needs is tires with a 10-15 percent reserve capacity above OEM tires or axle ratings that way they can be ran at max psi for a cooler running longer lasting tire and to help hold the tires shape as it side scrubs around corners.
The advantage of the E tire comes at those higher pressures.
