White hose

I’m wondering if I need to always use a white hose for the travel trailer if we don’t drink the water.

I never understood why some folks don't use a RV rated hose. I mean they are relatively inexpensive at Walmart, actually quite cheap.

I bought two of these "quite cheap" hoses from Walmart last year. Both of them leak at the male end fitting. You know, the end that goes inside the water hook up area of my fifth-wheel.
  • Just buy the RV hose. This way you don’t have to guess when pulling the one from the side of your house that was left on the ground with spiders and insects crawling around inside of it! Just make sure you store it in the trailer compartment. Also drain it before storing it.

BTW, we always use the water from our RV. I have the inline hose filter, and then a dedicated “while house” filter plumbed in the RV. I never worry about even drinking water from the RV.

Are you sure? A friend of my cousin was told by his girlfriend who read on the internet that someone drank from a green hose.
They immediately solidified and crumbled into dust. :B
  • You can use any hose you want as long as you don't mind the taste of it.
  • If you are out buying a hose specifically for the RV, sure get the white hose. The cost difference is negligible.

  • Why not use the rig as designed?
Use a good quality drinking water hose either the white or blue.
  • Even for cooking, brushing teeth, or showering, it is best to use a hose that is drinking water safe. OTOH, never heard of anyone dying from drinking from a garden hose, or RV plumbing that was not sanitized.:)
