Seeing we are talking about drones and FAA regs. then here's another scenario on airspace. Say I am a ham radio operator and my antenna tower is 200 ft. tall, the limit before it has to be registered with the FAA(I believe). That means to me that I own the airspace up to 200 ft. above my property so don't fly your drone under that limit or you would be encroaching on my private property. Now lets say your drone runs into a guy wire for my tower and it falls to the ground. You come knocking on my door to retrieve it and I say pay me $1000 for my trouble and damages as I will have to have my tower inspected for any damage, even if there was none, not sure till its looked at. I then trespass you off my property and tell you not to return or the sheriff will be called.
Likewise with what's under my property. Lets say you live in tornado alley and want to build a shelter for your family. While digging the hole you hit a 50lb. gold nugget. Is it yours? or is it the states? I for one am keeping that gold nugget and telling the state to bugger off. My property, my nugget.
How about a water well? I pay for a permit to drill a well for water. Do I continue to pay the county for the water that comes out of that well? Do I own that water my well pumps up for me? Or is it still the states water? Why do I not pay a monthly water bill for my well if the state owns it? I say its my well, my water.
For those that think they can fly their drones anywhere they wish, you may be in for a rude education.
