These things are loud and a GoPro type camera is a fisheye type camera with NO zoom. It's a close-in sports camera that's designed for a life within 10'. As far as looking at campsites, give me a break.... What is it you're hiding that can't be seen while walking by in the first place? Peeping Toms are Peeping Toms, and that is a COMPLETELY different conversation. I suggest you go to a local fly field and educate yourself before spouting invasion of privacy laws.stevekk wrote:
..The reason I ask this, we were camped at Marin RV Park last week and I saw a fellow camper flying a Drone over the RV Park. But did not get a chance to talk to him.
My first question would be is WHY fly a drone over a CG if not to peer into others RV's and sites.
IMHO there would be no other reason. There certainly is not any great 'have to have' pictures of mountains, oceans or scenic views over a CG. :R
The elephant in the room is not the mechanics of a drone but the voyeurism of the owners that use them. Beat around the bush any way you want it boils down to just that. :(
And the last time I looked at the statute it is a felony crime. We don't have to wait for the fed gov to catch up with the drone laws there is one in place already if only every person victimized would utilize it.
"A person is guilty of the dissemination of an unlawful surveillance image in the first-degree, a Class E Felony punishable up to 1 - to 4 years in State prison, when he or she:
(i) publishes or sells an image that was unlawfully obtained; or
(ii) disseminates an image he or she unlawfully obtained; or ...."

It will be a field day for attorneys when all these drone owners feel the need to start posting, I.E. publishing their videos they've captured of unsuspecting people on their social media pages. :B
Also, go look at the raw unedited video I posted above from Quartzsite, and while there, look at all the other video posted around Quartzsite. See anyone staring in a window? That flight is from 47' in the air, and you have a hard time even picking out people let alone what they're doing.
