I think some folks are missing the point. It doesn't matter whether or not you "have something to hide", in terms of privacy, but the mere fact that yet again, because "someone" decides they want to fly their camera equipped drone over your private property and take pictures, that somehow that is or should be "OK", because you have nothing to hide.
If your neighbor, or some stranger, decided to stand outside your property, and take pictures of your yard, your vehicles, maybe over your fence from another vantage point, would you not be concerned, and not want that to happen? Even if you had "nothing to hide"?
It matters not that the camera doesn't have good enough resolution or have a wide enough lens. In who's opinion? Shouldn't I have the right to my privacy, even if I have nothing to hide? Or, more importantly, shouldn't YOU have a right to YOUR privacy, even if you have nothing to hide?
I think drones are kinda cool... I don't have one myself. But, I don't think it should be allowed to fly over my house, take pictures of my "stuff" and my backyard etc... Don't tell me that the camera doesn't have enough resolution to decide that I have a nice shop in my back yard, hidden from the street, that has my 63 Nova tucked away in it. How do I know Im not being cased? And before anyone says Im being paranoid, what better way to case a joint than to fly the drone over it, see what someone has, and maybe even cruise around low enough to see if someone is home.
Don't give up your privacy just because you have nothing to hide. Just like don't give you your right to bear arms, just because you choose not to, or you think your safe and don't need to.
