I don't yet own a drone but it's on the list...I agree, I think one would be useful for the reasons the OP mentions as well as taking some cool pics.
I do think TC owners are more likely to have a drone, not because they are more tech savvy, but because they tend to camp in more remote locations where you're not bothering other folks with your drone. The county parks here have already outlawed any and all drone usage and the state parks are doing similar.
My buddy's neighbor was flying his drone over my buddy's back yard anytime he had people over for a BBQ....the last straw was the flyover while his wife was sunbathing....my buddy's message to his neighbor loud and clear was that planes that engage in aggressive behavior get shot down over enemy territory all the time....never saw the drone over his house after that.
