Yes a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.
If have an FAA-registered Phantom. When it's above 200 feet you can't hear it and can barely see it. I've yet to bring it camping, mostly because of the haters. The same people with the loud music, screaming kids, screaming at each other, generators, etc. don't want the noise of a drone taking off for 30 seconds until you can't hear it anymore.
I get the privacy concerns. It's certainly possible to be a peeping tom with the smaller (more quiet) drones. I just like to take high-altitude shots that wouldn't otherwise be possible.
Here's me coming in for a landing. RV content: that's my Allegro on the right. I've been flying RC stuff for decades and the technology is amazing. I've had trees eat a lot of expensive toys but it's nearly impossible to crash or hit anything with the new ones.
