We might differ in definition "easy to fly"
I don't consider $700 GPS system in $40 drone as "easy to fly" although you might have a point ;).
My drone doesn't have GPS and that is why I have to show my skills.
Than I have seen model of helicopter hoovering about 6 inches above the ground while ... upside down and they don't have GPS. Some things about today's technology are hard to believe.
Thinking about it, on 1 of our climbing trips, we encounter fast-flying drone managing canyon curves about 50 ft above the ground.
Being 1/2 the way up 1600' mountain, we had open view with at least 3 miles view. No pilot and no vehicle visible.
We've been about 3 miles from airport radar and that made me wonder if the airport security might have computer-controlled drones that check the mountains.
