Who really cares about what forum a thread is in?

I often see responses along the lines of "why did you post on this forum rather than that forum" or 'this belongs in "X" forum, or "you will get more responses posting in this forum instead" . Pers...

Forums usually work in a set sub-folder system:

Forum
>Board
>>Category
>>>Thread


This forum calls its boards "forums". And as mentioned, its categories only matter when posting a new thread - you can't search or filter on them. So it looks more like:

Forum
>Forum
>>Thread

It appears that the categories were at some point used for searching and/or filtering, but were dropped. So now they are just disconnected strings hanging down when you post a new thread.
