Not quite sure what amplification is all about. We lived for hundreds of years with music and no amplification.
We're on a road trip and our CD player isn't working. Best thing that has ever happened. We talked for hours.

Think about it.
We have Sirius/XM in both of our vehicles. My wife and I each also have our own thumb drives with our preferred music - mine leans toward harder classic rock (although I have lots of early rock and roll too), while hers is more soft rock (which tends to make me drowsy :Z ).
On long drives we listen to a variety of music, but we also turn off the radio to just talk and comment on what we are seeing as we travel.
