This started with the drug addled Baby Boomers, the first people to side with their kids rather than the teachers when their kids screwed up at school. Though maybe the kids were acting up trying to get back for being named Todd, Caitlin, Tiffany and Shawn.
I'm not sure that is the problem, though it may be part of it. Another part is the way things have changed all around. My girlfriends kids gave there son a spanking. When the local Child Protective Service officer heard about it she came storming over to their house and said if they did it again they would lose there kids and end up in jail. So, they don't discipline the kid at all anymore and he runs wild.
Oh, and the local Child Protective Services Officer doesn't have custody of her own kids. She lost them because she was not a good enough parent. :h
