I'm not sure that is the problem, though it may be part of it. Another part is the way things have changed all around. My girlfriends kids gave there son a spanking. When the local Child Protective Service officer heard about it she came storming over to their house and said if they did it again they would lose there kids and end up in jail. So, they don't discipline the kid at all anymore and he runs wild.
Oh, and the local Child Protective Services Officer doesn't have custody of her own kids. She lost them because she was not a good enough parent. :h
Seems like an excuse not to discipline the kids. There are lots of other options for discipline besides spanking but they take more effort. They were told not to spank the kids so they just don't do anything. Seems to me it's not the authorities that have the problem there.
Greetings Toes,
I believe you have hit the root of the reason there are so many problems with young adults. Light spanking is a parenting technique not often applied this day and age.
My bad. "Time out for me".

It's not about the spanking and it's not about the young generation. It's about accepting responsibility for one's actions. It's about sometimes having to do the difficult thing because it's better than doing the easy thing.
Throughout this thread and others, we have people (of older generations) recommending retaliation to those who "diss" us. Why? Because that is the easy response. Because it makes us feel important to get back at others.
Try doing the harder response - be civil, treat the other person with respect whether they deserve it or not, compromise, etc.
The biblical quote isn't "Therefore all things whatsoever men do to you, do ye even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets", it's "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
But as a SOCIETY we have ignored this. Instead we worry about what everyone else is doing instead of worrying about what we are doing ourselves. And it has crossed all generations as can be seen by threads like this.
