Having been in high altitude only once and spent my life living at three feet elevation, what is special about camping at altitude?
Thanks in advance.
Hard to find a place to start, but I guess maybe the clear air and sky would be first. You're above the haze, smog, etc from our civilization. The sky is clear and bluer. Bring plenty of sunscreen.
Quite often in the Rockies and Sierras you can look up from your campsite to the taller peaks and see them covered in snow 365/7.
At night the heavens can be incredible.
The air might be warm, even hot during the day but you can count on nights in the 50's or even chillier.
If you've never experienced the mountains, do your self a favor and rent
mile mile and a half. Pay the extra for the HD version and enjoy. The is available thru iTunes, Amazoon, Google movies, etc.
