I tent camped and hiked but my new bride didn't. Trying to expose her to the hobby didn't take. When DD#1 was about 4 I wanted to take her camping but DW said not without her and she despises the whole tent camping thing. So we rented a PUP. DW tolerated this better and saw how much DD enjoyed the experience. That was our thing for years. DD#2 and DS come along, we were renting small hard side TTs and life was good. The rental place closed so we bought a PUP and progressed from there.
Now that all our children are grown we use the FW more as a portable hotel, the rolling condo as we call it. We use it mostly for visiting friends and family. I can't tell you the last time I built a camp fire and no, I don't miss it.
