Like many others I started out tent camping with my parents and my brother.Later on when we were teenagers my brother and I continued to tent camp.
We would go mostly to the High Desert with our homemade Desert Buggies always tent camping. It can get very windy and cold, sometimes dropping 20 to 30 degrees below daytime temps.
In 1968 a friend of my brother had a old Dodge Class C they wanted to sell,so we took it on a trip to the desert with our old Desert Buggy.
That night the wind started to blow,as it usually did and the temp dropped. We went inside and made supper and watched the sun set and the wind howl,it was warm and there was no sand in our food we didn't have to freeze when having to use the facilities,no deflated air mattresses and rocky ground.
That was when my brother said "this is the last time we are sleeping in a tent"
We got an old Class A to share and later on I purchased a Class A, continued to Desert Camp and have not looked back.
