Like so many others, we started as avid tent campers. There were probably a few motivators to getting an rv. First, we love winter camping. Second, we love to eat. Third, my wife sometimes needs to run "down the hall" in the middle of the night. Although winter camping is still fun in a tent, preparing food and taking potty breaks are both a bit more challenging in the snow. We even used to cook pancakes over an open fire - and that was with minimal camping gear.
We looked, pondered, looked some more, saved, evaluated, shopped, saved, debated, saved more and finally decided on a truck camper. We've never missed the tent and really enjoy all the camper's amenities. My wife especially loves not having to run through the snow in the middle of the night to take care of business.
With the addition of two children, we moved to our second truck & camper and really enjoy all our family adventures. The luxury of being able to stop anywhere along the way to grab food from the camper, or to use the facilities, is something we don't take for granted. It's also nice having most items right at our fingertips, instead of packed in a duffle bag like during our tent camping days.
I hope to be rv'ing until I'm in my grave. Do coffins offer slide options?
