Why do people spell Cummins with a "ings" ?
as in "Cummings" ? is it from when Forrd owned them?

Probably because of how many people pronounce things...like "runnin', jumpin', and standin' still."
They probably think it is actually spelled Cummings but everyone just drops the g when they say it outloud.
